Despite the gray skies and cool temperatures, a few friends and I rode to Poopy's in Savanna, Illinois for lunch today. In the picture to the left, you'll find Craig and Connie Brackney, Mike Nitzel, and Bob Hartley, taking a break at a gas station in Princeton, Iowa. Notice everyones wearing a helmet! I have mine on too!
Actually, the weather wasn't all that bad, but the temps were more like October than July. Luckily, I dressed appropriately for the weather!
For those of you who have not had the pleasure of visiting Poopy's, it is a great place to have lunch or breakfast. The food is wonderful and the portions HUGE!!! I ordered a club sandwich and couldn't come close to finishing it. I think if Jan and I go together we'll have to split a meal. Poopy's is also has a bar, gift shop, and tattoo parlor. I've only been there during the lunch hour, and have found the staff and clientele to be very friendly. I've driven by the place on the weekends and noticed that the parking lot is FULL of bikes! Route 84 is a major motorcyle track on the weekends and Poopy's is a popular stop.
No, I didn't get a tattoo while I was there, but found browsing through the artwork interesting. I've been thinking about getting at tatto, but haven't got the nerve up yet. We also browsed the gift shop. They have lots of t-shirts and novelties. I would have liked to have gotten a t-shirt, but unfortunately the slogan for Poopy's contains a word that I don't think is appropriate. So, I passed on making a purchase.
On the way up to Savanna, my saddlebag lid flew open. I must not have gotten it latched properly. I didn't notice it, but Craig Brackney pointed it out to me as we were riding. We stopped in Fulton so I could "button down the hatches". Luckily, the only thing I lost out of the bag was my do-rag! Bummer!
The ride home was pleasant and relaxing. I arrive back at the old homestead shortly after 3:00. I had a great time, but boy am I pooped! LOL!

Hey it sounds like you guys had a great time. I was glad to see everyone was wearing their helmets. It makes sense I think. Sorry to hear your do-rag blew out of the bike Mike. That rag and you fit like peanut butter and jelly. You just went together. LoL!! You'll have to get another. Narcissa and I are taking our bike to Southern Illinois for the weekend to see my Mother. This will be a 700 mile round trip not counting the driving around we do while there. This will be our first big road trip together on a bike. I can't wait! We will leave Friday morning and believe it or not we plan on being home for church Sunday. Please pray for traveling mercies, and help us to avoid any kind of ruts like the fellow and his son (I believe Scott & Todd Flaker) hit from our Sunday school class. Plus pray for good weather! Later all! Mark & Narcissa
